The nine days of Navratri are a Hindu festival dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, with each day honoring a specific incarnation, such as Shailaputri on day one and Siddhidatri on day nine. Devotees observe the festival by praying to these goddesses, fasting, and often wearing a different color each day to symbolize the virtues of the specific goddess they are worshipping.  
The Nine Forms of Goddess Durga
Each of the nine days of Navratri is associated with a specific form of the goddess: 
Shailaputri: The "daughter of the mountain".
Brahmacharini: The "devoted female student".
Chandraghanta: The "she of the crescent-shaped bell".
Kushmanda: The "goddess of the cosmic egg".
Skandamata: The "mother of Skanda".
Katyayani: The "slayer of the demon".
Kalaratri: The "goddess of the night".
Mahagauri: The "great and brilliant".
Siddhidatri: The "giver of supernatural power".
Significance and Traditions
Fasting and Prayer:
Many devotees fast and offer prayers to the goddess to gain blessings and inner strength. 
Colors:
Each day of Navratri is associated with a specific color that devotees may wear to symbolize the day's attributes and seek blessings. 
Celebration:
The festival celebrates the divine feminine power and provides an opportunity for self-discipline, emotional growth, and deep thought.
